A Starchild is Born

Like a suit of armor, your skin’s protective barrier is the first line of defense between you and all the environmental aggressors out there: pollution, UV rays, and other harmful elements. When your skin’s barrier is thrown off balance, it can often end up not feeling or looking it’s best. But what exactly is the skin’s barrier and how do you keep it in shape?

BARRIER RESTORATION EXPLAINED

Your skin’s protective barrier is the outermost layer of skin,  made up of lipids such as ceramides, fatty acids, and cholesterol, which help to keep your skin hydrated. A balanced skin barrier is important because it helps to prevent water loss, which can lead to dryness, sensitivity, and a host of other issues. An unhappy barrier can also make your skin more susceptible to irritation and redness, which can further compromise the skin’s health.

Products that help to restore and maintain your skin’s protective barrier are a welcome addition to all skincare regimens. Our new Starchild- Barrier Restoration Cream contains key actives that boost barrier support and function.

MEET THE SUPERSTAR INGREDIENTS OF STARCHILD

Melatonin:

A hormone that regulates our sleep-wake cycle, this potent antioxidant plays a vital role in protecting our skin against environmental stressors. When applied topically, melatonin helps fight free radical damage while boosting the skin’s defensive barrier.

Sea Kelp Bioferment:

Derived from brown seaweed, this rich source of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids provide intense hydration to the skin. Sea Kelp Bioferment also contains fucoidan, a polysaccharide that helps strengthen the skin’s barrier function.

Squalene & Plum Seed Oil:

Rich in omega fatty acids, both of these help lock in moisture and reinforce the skin’s barrier. Squalene is an oil produced naturally by your skin, and it plays a crucial role in maintaining hydration and elasticity. Plum Seed Oil is high in linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid that has been shown to soothe irritated skin and improve the appearance of blemish prone skin.

  1. So is this a moisturizer? Would I replace my present moisturizer with this?

    Thanks

    1. Hi Isabelle,

Yes! This can absolutely work as your daily moisturizer, or you can alternate it with your favorite daily moisturizer day or night.

    1. Hi Barbara,

Starchild would be excellent for sensitive skin! For someone acne-prone, it would depend on how congested their skin is and how oily it becomes during teh day. Starchild could work or might feel like too much for some acne prone skins.
